Ashton, aka The Mayor, is an everyday superhero because he's developed a strong sense of duty to being the silent, but attentive, helper.

Spider-Man is Ashton's favorite superhero. 100%. Almost every version of him. He admires him 1) because "he can fly and shoots spiderwebs!" 2) He admires the youthfulness. I will never forget his shock when he learned that not all superheroes were adults! "There are superheroes in high school?!" Not long after he was introduced to Spider-Boy and Miles Morales, and through those heroes a deeper connection was ignited that shows up everyday in his hero landing attempts and karate lesson takedowns.
Our family's influence was definitely the initiating spark for Ashton's love of superheroes. My mom grew up watching the OG Batman with the theme song he won't quit singing now. I was obsessed with TMNT growing up, and watching Saturday morning cartoons with my older sister who introduced Ashton to superheroes through YouTube parkour videos, and reading books. The superhero influence was already woven into our daily interests and became something that we shared with him naturally.
Ashton's ideal superpower would be that of his favorite superhero, of course! To fly and shoot webs! He is very clear that he doesn't want to "fly-fly" like Superman would. "I want to fly, because if someone is being mean to me, I can easily fly away." But Ashton also said that he would use his spider powers to fly to school so he won't be late, and now that he's in jiu-jitsu he wants to use his powers to help him "really take people down."
