Coder, creator, future pilot and champion of being yourself - Austin proves you don’t need a cape to be an everyday superhero.
Thank you for generously supporting Austin in this year’s competition. Your participation made a huge impact for The Stan Lee Foundation and their mission to promote literacy and the narrative arts.
Austin’s favorite superhero is Iron Man. He admires Tony Stark because he uses technology, creativity, and problem-solving to build incredible things and help people. Austin loves computers, coding, and figuring out how things work, so he relates to that. Plus, Iron Man has an extra special meaning to him—his mom is an Ironman too! She may not have a flying suit, but watching her finish Ironman races has taught him to work hard, never give up, and believe he can do difficult things.
Austin’s love of superheroes really came from his love of computers, coding, animation and anything with cool technology. Iron Man was an obvious favorite—he builds incredible things, solves problems and has some pretty awesome gadgets. It also doesn’t hurt that his mom is an Ironman, so we like to joke that Iron Man runs in the family…although sadly, neither of us has figured out how to fly yet.
Austin would probably want to be able to look at anything and immediately know how it works. A computer, an airplane, a lighting board, some random machine he’s never seen before—he’d just know. He’s the kid who always wants to figure things out, so basically his superpower would be never needing to read the instruction manual. Which, honestly, he probably wasn’t going to read anyway.
