Benjamin has had many favorite superheroes over the years, but he always comes back to Spider-Man, including the different versions like Miles Morales. Spider-Man was the first superhero costume he ever wore, before he was even 3. Ben says Spider-Man feels the most “real” because he’s an ordinary kid who was given extraordinary powers and chooses to use them to help others, not for fame, fortune, or vengeance. To Benjamin, being a hero is about choosing to use what you have to make a difference.
His love of superheroes started pretty much the minute he tried on that first costume, and honestly, we never stood a chance. Soon came Super B and countless heroes he created, along with dressing up as nearly every superhero imaginable. We followed that love to Comic-Cons, where meeting artists and creators and experiencing their kindness made comics special. Eventually, he began drawing heroes, writing stories and making comics. Now he creates heroes who help make the world we live in better.
Benjamin would have a hard time choosing just one. He’d want whatever power could help the most: healing someone who is sick or hurt, having the strength to rescue someone, or being super smart enough to solve problems others can’t. He’d even want a power that could help protect animals and the environment. For him, the best power isn’t necessarily the coolest one; it’s a power that truly can help someone or something that needs it.
