Charlie’s favorite superhero is Ironman. He admires him because he is a strong leader, but was willing to sacrifice himself for the good of others.Charlie is always looking for ways to support others. Charlie didn’t talk until he was almost 5. His delayed speech caused him to be picked on until he caught up.He is now participating in plays and leading pep rallys when he isn’t playing school football and baseball teams.He is big for his age,so he has also overcome being bullied and called fat.
Charlie has always admired superheroes, but I think it began when he first saw spiderman disappear in avengers.Like most kids, he was devastated, but I also think it made him appreciate the human aspect of the superheroes. He understood that under their armor and suits they felt emotions and faced obstacles just like he did. Knowing this gave Charlie the courage to overcome his own problems. He also admires the friendships that the heroes developed and had an enormous amount of empathy for all.
I’m sure if you asked, Charlie (Chuck) would love to be invisible or fly or have super strength, but as far as I’m concerned he already has the amazing ability to make the little guy or “outcast” feel seen and accepted. To know him is to love him and he is able to make people laugh and smile wherever he goes.God never gives us more than we can handle. I believe he used the struggles that Charlie has overcome to help him empathize and defend those who can’t defend themselves.
