Sign Up for FreeHis favorite superhero is Jeff Hanson, a kid who had the same tumor disorder (Neurofibromatosis Type 1) and also had a brain tumor that affected his vision. Despite his challenges, Jeff became an amazing painter and began selling his art at the age of 12 to raise money for charity. Before his death at age 27, Jeff had donated over $6 million to over 200 charities. Jeff said to focus on what you CAN do, not what you CAN’T do. This advice has been an inspiration for Ciaran.
Ciaran has always loved how every superhero has a unique talent that they use to help others. He inherited his enthusiasm for superhero comics and films from his Dad, who has also been a lifelong fan. Since he was a preschooler, Ciaran (with his big brother Lachlan) has been raising awareness for NF and funds for NF research. His first superhero cape was custom made by the mom of another kid with NF as part of a fundraiser for NF research. See photos, below
