Eli has always been a Spiderman kid. I believe he feels that he can relate to Spiderman's "Friendly Neighborhood" quality and also how even at a young age Spiderman just wants to be helpful and not underestimated. He likes that Spiderman is intelligent and charismatic. He also looks out for the little as much as the big guys.
Eli get's his love for superheroes from his parents and uncles. Dad is a huge comic book guy who loves Superman, Batman, Thor, Moonknight. Mom loves HULK and Wonder Woman. And his Uncles are huge Marvel Comics guys. This family loves their Superheroes.
Eli would definitely love to have the ability to create constructs with his mind and have super agility. As much as Eli likes the idea of flight or strength or even super speed, he is more interested in an engineers mind and agility. So a power where he can create things with his mind like a Green Lantern and agility like Spiderman.
