Elijah has ASD and is an everyday superhero! Once nonverbal, he now speaks in sentences, introduces himself, and conquers new milestones.
Thank you for generously supporting Elijah in this year’s competition. Your participation made a huge impact for The Stan Lee Foundation and their mission to promote literacy and the narrative arts.
Elijah’s favorite superhero is Spider-Man because he’s fast, brave, and never gives up when things get difficult. Elijah sees a little of himself in him—full of energy, always moving, and learning how to turn what makes him different into a strength. To Elijah, a true superhero isn’t someone who never struggles; it’s someone who keeps going and uses their powers to help others
Elijah’s love of superheroes grew alongside his own journey. As he learned to communicate, overcome challenges, and discover just how capable he is, superheroes became symbols of courage and possibility. He loves their strength and adventures, but what makes them special to him is that they keep trying—even when something feels impossible. In many ways, Elijah has been becoming his own superhero all along.
Elijah would choose SUPER SPEED! He has always been incredibly fast and loves to run. As a child with autism who struggles with elopement, keeping up with him can sometimes feel like chasing a real-life superhero! In Elijah’s superhero world, his speed becomes his greatest power—racing toward adventure, helping others, and proving that something challenging can also become something extraordinary.
