He takes on hardship with heroic courage and has never let the trouble of a day deter his sheer determination, nor rob him of his joy.
Thank you for generously supporting Gabriel in this year’s competition. Your participation made a huge impact for The Stan Lee Foundation and their mission to promote literacy and the narrative arts.
Gabriel’s absolute favorite is Captain America. His admiration is primarily because there is nothing Cap wouldn’t take head on for the sake of the world, and the people in it! He is brave, strong, and his commitment to doing what is right no matter is an important display that all people can actually be heroes.
His love was born out of a necessity arising from his own life. Gabriel was discovered to have serious health issues around the age of 2 which have created countless challenges and difficulties over the years. He accepts this road of hardship bravely and without complaint, navigating it as a mere duty before him. No matter the situation, he always figures out how to become whatever is needed to keep going. Long before ever really loving superheroes, he frankly had to became one for himself.
He would want super strength so he could “save a lot of people”. He says that “people who are in trouble should never be left behind” and that a hero “must have the strength to care about more than himself”. What he doesn’t know is that he already possesses this in ways that a hero would envy.
