She's level 3 nonverbal but has more personality than anyone I've ever meet ! She's fearless and very determined.
Thank you for generously supporting Isabella in this year’s competition. Your participation made a huge impact for The Stan Lee Foundation and their mission to promote literacy and the narrative arts.
Bella loves Spider-Man ! She is nonverbal, so when I think about why she like him, these reasons come to mind. When Peter receives his powers, his senses become hyper-acute. For a child who experiences sensory processing differences, Spider-Man’s struggle to filter out environmental stimuli mirrors their daily reality. For a nonverbal child who relies on physical cues, gestures, and visual communication, Spider-Man’s way of interacting with the world feels incredibly natural and familiar.
I think we love heroes not just for their powers, but for their human struggles. She has grown up around a huge comic book collection and she loves, loves, loves books !
A child with autism might most want the trait of super sensory control or invisibility to easily block out overwhelming sounds and navigate tough social situations. Autistic kids often notice tiny details that others miss. Turning deep focus into a superpower would make their unique trait feel valued.
