Raven, Not because Raven has everything figured out almost the opposite. Jeanette has been dealing with big emotions, anxiety, feeling different from other kids, trying to hold things in around people, and sometimes reaching a point where everything becomes too much. Raven’s story revolves around learning that having intense things happening inside you doesn’t make you bad, weak, or dangerous. What matters is learning how to live with those feelings without letting them control you.
Raven has been my favorite superhero since I was little and watched Teen Titans with my older brothers. As I got older and my Tourette’s became more noticeable, I related to her even more. Raven understands what it feels like to control something inside herself that others may not understand. She reminds me that being different doesn’t make me weak and that I don’t have to hide who I am to be strong.
If I could have any superpower, I would choose to fly and become invisible whenever I wanted. Flying would let me quickly escape when I feel overwhelmed and need space. Being invisible would help when my Tourette’s makes me feel like people are staring at me or noticing my tics. I could choose when I wanted to be seen and have a way to get away when everything feels like too much.
