Spiderman, specifically Miles Morales. Matteo loves him because he can camouflage and he has webs. He admires Miles’s commitment to help and defend people who can’t defend themselves. He likes that he can relate to Miles on so many levels: they look alike (he even gets the same haircut) and Miles is just a kid like him, he loves science and making/inventing things just like him, and he is artistic just like him.
We started reading superheroes books since Matteo was very little and he has been hooked since. Matteo loves the idea of someone defending the world from the bad guys, that is what mostly drives his passion. He always plays the superhero in pretend play. The many superheroes prints covering his older brother's bedroom walls also had an impact. After the toddler books came the TV series and as he grew older the comics and the movies. It's a love for life now.
If he had to choose only one superpower, it would be superstrength. He says that with superstrength he could beat up the bad guys and also run fast and jump high because his legs would be strong. If he could have more than one superpower, then he would like to have webs to swing from building to building and be able to turn invisible so he could surprise the villains.
