His favorite superheroes often change, but right now he really likes Gambit from the X-Men. He loves reading Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and LEGO encyclopedias and learned that Gambit is one of the rarest LEGO minifigures. He does not have one yet, so he made his own Gambit from pieces in his collection. He also loves Gambit’s powers, especially his playing cards. As he put it, “Throwing those cards is awesome!” He also thinks Gambit’s hair and eyes are really cool.
His love of superheroes came from his dad and two older brothers, who are 14 and 12 years older and shared their love of superheroes through comics, movies, books, games, and toys, LEGO Marvel and DC sets. Superheroes were always part of the household. One early memory is playing Marvel Scene-It at 2-3 years old and surprising everyone by getting questions right. Even his newborn photos included Guardians of the Galaxy Funko Pops and him hugging his namesake, Ronan the Accuser, with a sly smirk.
He told me the superpower he would want the most is to freeze anything, especially to create things out of ice. He said, “I could freeze villains to protect people. I could make ice cream and shaved ice for anyone at any time. Just not the flavors, but that’s okay because I’m allergic to dyes. The best thing, I could make there be an ice rink even in the hot summer so people can stay cool and go ice skating.”
