Salem has always worn capes, helped others, and never given up. His imagination turns every backyard into a world to save!
Thank you for generously supporting Salem in this year’s competition. Your participation made a huge impact for The Stan Lee Foundation and their mission to promote literacy and the narrative arts.
Salem’s favorite superhero is Spider-Man, with Iron Man as a very close second! He loves Spider-Man because he is brave, funny, and keeps trying even when things get hard. Salem especially likes that Spider-Man is just a regular kid who uses what he has to help people and protect. He loves Iron Man because he is an inventor, its amazing that Tony Stark can dream up an idea, build it, test it, improve it, and turn it into something incredible. Salem loves creating things too.
He has loved Spider-Man since he was tiny. When we took him to Disneyland at just a year old, he watched Spider-Man fly over his head and was completely mesmerized. He loves that Spider-Man is brave, funny, and always tries to help people, even when things are hard. That moment really stuck with him, and ever since, Spider-Man has felt a little bit magical, and Superheroes have been part of his world capes, costumes, backyard adventures, and imaginary missions to save the world.
Salem would choose the power to fly. He pretends he has a jet pack all the time or he is Spider-Man swinging over buildings. He asked for a jet pack for Christmas last year which for safety reasons we definitely could not deliver. He loves to blast off on imaginary missions flying throught the sky.
