Who is Sawyer's favorite superhero and why do they admire them?

Sawyer’s favorite superhero is Spider-Man—first and foremost because shooting webs and swinging between buildings is just awesome! But he also likes that Spider-Man is funny, brave, and still feels like a regular kid underneath the mask. He makes mistakes and faces hard things, but he keeps going and uses what makes him different to help others. Sawyer admires that you don’t have to be perfect or fearless to be a hero—you just have to keep trying and do the right thing.

Where did Sawyer's love of superheroes come from?

Sawyer’s love of superheroes started the first time he watched Superman. From there, he discovered heroes he connected with in different ways. Batman became a favorite because he can disappear into the darkness—and Sawyer says sometimes he wishes he could hide like that too. He loves Black Panther because of his claws and imagines how cool it would be to have them himself. For Sawyer, superheroes are about amazing powers, imagination, and sometimes seeing a little bit of himself in them.

What superpower would Sawyer want and why?

Sawyer would choose super strength! He loves the idea of being able to lift anything, no matter how heavy it is. But to him, being strong is about more than muscles. He says having super strength would make him feel like he could overcome anything that came his way. After facing some pretty big challenges already, that power feels perfect for him. Maybe the best part is that Sawyer is still discovering he already has a different kind of super strength inside him.
